Are you looking for Wheel Alignment for your vehicle?

Improved safety and driving behaviour

Contact with potholes and curbs can have noticeable effects on the chassis geometry of a car. Even a slight change of the axle and the chassis complex results in asymmetric parts and tyre wear.

Uneven tyre wear increases rolling resistance, impairs the handling of the vehicle and thus also has an impact on driving safety.

This often goes unnoticed by the driver in the initial phase. It is therefore advisable to have a wheel alignment carried out regularly - ideally with every tyre change but at the latest every 24 months.

Even small deviations are detected early and can be corrected.

Correctly adjusted toe, camber and caster values are crucial for the driving behaviour and characteristics of your car and thus for your safety.

With our latest wheel alignment equipment, and our regularly trained Tradeprice Tyres Creditline experts we are able to achieve utmost precision.

Most vehicle owners have never heard of the terms Camber, Caster and Toe.

We would like to give you a brief idea:

Camber

Is defined as the angle between the wheel centre plane and a vertical line (at the wheel contact point) to the road surface.

A positive camber means the wheel is inclined outwards at the top.

A negative camber means the wheel is tilted inwards at the top.

Depending on the driving style, the tyres deform more or less strongly in the curve. Without a camber, the wheel contact area would be more than halved in extreme curves. A negative camber, therefore, improves the lateral support of the vehicle when cornering.

A negative camber that is too large will cause the tyres on the inside to wear out more quickly.

    • Toe-in and toe-out

The total toe of an axle is the difference in length between the front and rear distance between the wheels of an axle, measured at the rim flanges.

With modern wheel alignment, the angular position of the wheel centre plane in relation to the vehicle longitudinal centre plane (when measuring the rear axle) or to the geometric driving axle (when measuring the front axle) is measured in angular degrees.

The individual toe on the front axle indicates the angle of a wheel in relation to the geometric travel axis.

The individual toe on the rear axle describes the angle of a wheel to the longitudinal centre plane of the vehicle.

In toe-in, the wheels of an axle are closer together at the front than at the rear. Measurements are taken at the rim flanges.

Toe-out means that the wheels of an axle are closer together at the rear than at the front.

    • Toe-in

The toe-in and toe-out stabilises the directional stability of the wheels by means of tension in the tyre rims. This means that there is no more play in the wheel suspension and steering transmission parts, which in turn reduces the tendency of the wheels to "flutter".

  • Caster

The caster is the inclination of the swivel axis in the direction of the vehicle's longitudinal axis compared to one perpendicular to the roadway. If the caster is positive, the wheel contact point follows the puncture point of the extended swivel axis (the wheels are pulled), which has a lane stabilising effect. If the caster is negative, the wheel contact point runs ahead of the puncture point of the extended swivel axle (the wheels are pushed). The vehicle may become unstable depending on the type of drive. Therefore, a positive or negative caster angle always results from the vehicle construction (front, rear or all-wheel drive).

Effects of positive and negative caster

For rear-wheel drive vehicles, a positive caster angle is required to stabilise the steering.

If the caster angle is set too large in the positive direction, the steering and holding forces are too high.

If the caster is set too high in negative direction, this can be detected by a poor steering reset. This can also lead to the vehicle being pulled at an angle. Furthermore, the wheels can "flutter"

and the vehicle is sensitive to cross winds.

Even if the caster on the wheels of an axle is different, the vehicle may also tend to pull the wheels at an angle.

For vehicles with front-wheel drive, the caster angle can be zero or even slightly negative. This minimises the restoring forces caused by the driving forces when cornering.

Wheel alignment Newport

We can not only check and adjust the values during wheel alignment but also check the entire axle geometry of the chassis and detect any deviations (e.g. after collision damage).

This applies to the wheel alignment of the front axle as well as to the best wheel alignment Newport of the rear axle.

Scope of the measurement/adjustment:
  • Visual inspection of the tyre profiles
  • Precise electronic measurement of all wheels
  • If necessary, adjustment to the geometry data specified by the vehicle manufacturer
  • Replacement of defective components if necessary

Too complicated?

Please don't worry. Our experts can show you directly what needs doing on the computer screen and can also print a before and after report for you so you can see the difference.

When should Wheel Alignment be carried out?

A first indication of the necessity of wheel alignment is unevenly worn tyres. In most cases, different tread depths in the profile can be recognised at first glance. A further indication is when the car does not keep to the track while driving and steers slightly to the left or right as if by itself so that the direction of travel must be corrected by the driver. In this case, wheel alignment and corrective adjustments should be carried out urgently. Frequent rumbling noises and/or a "spongy" steering behaviour also indicate a defect in the wheel suspension. Safety experts recommend having the chassis and axles checked after every collision, no matter how small. Used cars should even be checked for this immediately after purchase.

Results of Wheel Alignment

Within the framework of wheel alignment, all-important chassis values are checked for any deviations using the latest computer-controlled wheel alignment equipment with the aid of electronic sensors and laser technology. If a correction proves necessary, the axle geometry is precisely readjusted based on the measurement results. The optimisation of rolling resistance achieved in this way not only extends the mileage of the tyres but also reduces fuel consumption. In addition to the resulting cost savings, driving safety is significantly increased. The optimised driving behaviour also ensures improved road grip and more directional stability.
